
In 2023-24 and 2024-25, GSD is investigating the sustainable development of the Port of Karumba. This project is funded by the Queensland Government through the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning’s Remote Area Board program.
With a focus on maximising the utilisation of the Port of Karumba to grow exports and imports for the Gulf Savannah and North West Minerals Province (NWMP) regions, GSD will deliver:
- Desktop review and analysis of previous reports, research, studies etc
- Stakeholder and community engagement to identify options and priorities
- Business Case Development, including cost benefit analysis of:
- Economic benefit/contribution of current Port operations
- Potential future economic development of the Port (by industry, if applicable)
- Project management
The project is due for completion in mid 2025.
