Meet GSD's Community Recovery and Resilience team...
A huge welcome to GSD’s new Community Recovery and Resilience team – (left to right) Penny Jones, Beth Bickford and Brett Carlsson.
The team are working across the Burke, Carpentaria and Doomadgee Local Government Areas to deliver GSD’s Community Recovery and Resilience Program, a jointly funded Australian and Queensland Government initiative under Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements following the 2022-23 declared disaster event.
While it took some time for the program to be approved, GSD will be delivering this initiative until mid 2027. The Community Recovery and Resilience team will be working alongside Stephanie Toy who is leading GSD’s Tourism Recovery and Resilience Program – another joint funded DRFA initiative.
GSD is here to support the Gulf Savannah region, our member Councils, communities, industries and businesses. By working together, we will be more prepared and more capable to respond to, recover from and plan for regular weather and disaster events in the Gulf.
